Why is it that you can hardly find modest clothing that is cute? I even Googled Modest Clothing and was pretty disappointed in what I found. All I want are some cute shirts that are not so tight that they show EVERYTHING, sheer, look like lingerie or have a plunging neckline. Seems just about every piece of clothing I find these days has one or all of the above qualities. I don’t care what size I am, I don’t want clothes that put everything on display. I left the store friday very disappointed that I couldn’t find a single shirt. :o(

Why do they make cars that go over 100 miles an hour when it’s illegal to go that fast? Why don’t they make it illegal to make vehicles over a certain speed? Would that not solve a lot of problems?

Isn’t this sweet? Heather gave me this card for my Birthday, the envelope has Happy Birthday written on it in different languages.
My Wonderful Hubby also gave me a sweet card and we got fast food for dinner so I didn’t have to cook.
At work, Donna bought Rachel and me breakfast and a cake. Rachel’s birthday was yesterday too. Since I have to share my birthday with someone, I’m glad it’s her. :o) Angel made us the CUTEST cards, and gave me a travel pack thingie of Watkins Lotions. I didn’t even know they sold lotion until recently, it’s wonderful! Donna also got me the cutest frog wind chimes. I’ll have to post pictures later.
Below is a pic of the tealight holder my aunt & uncle sent me from Arizona. It’s so pretty, the picture doesn’t do it justice.
Thank you everyone for making my Birthday a Wonderful Day!!! I am so Blessed! Another day older, but I thankfully don’t feel it. :o)

Yesterday Byron and I got a date night, funny thing is Heather was there. We finally went to visit Heather at work, they let her do a couple tables on her own the last time so we thought it would be a good time to go. She did really good, we were very proud. She only handled a couple tables last night, but today was turned loose. She came home with a whole wad of tips, so things must have went well. She said she made some mistakes, but that’s understandable. For me personally, as long as I can see that my waitress/waiter is trying to take care of me, I will tip them good even if they make mistakes.
Gotta go do some laundry. **Good Night**

My little brother (well, he’s 29) is getting married! I think I’m still kinda in shock. He called me Saturday to tell me, but I wasn’t actually sure they were going to actually do it. They haven’t known each other for very long, so this has come as quite a shock. The date is set for May 12 and I am to be the photographer. =:oO No, I’m not a photographer, but they couldn’t afford the $3,000 to hire one. Big sis is a whole lot cheaper at the bargain price of free. :o) I’m nervous about it, wedding pictures are a big deal. I’m gonna have to do some homework and take notes on ideas and shots that I don’t want to forget to take. My photographer didn’t get a picture of us taking our drink of punch with our arms inter-twined, you know what I mean? Well, I want to be sure to capture pics like that.
I’m really nervous for him, he’s not an idiot or anything, but this has moved so quickly. Of course, people thought that of me and my hubby when we got married. He proposed 4 months after we met and we were married 5 months later, things are still wonderful 7 years later. :o) My brother has me beat, they have known each other MUCH less time. I’ve been praying that God would show him if it is not His will. He seems so happy, I pray this is the one and that they are willing to do what it takes to make it work. If this sounds too negative, you just have to know the history – which I am not going to go into. I love my brother very much, but he doesn’t always think I do. He seems to have the philosopy, you’re with with me or against me. If you don’t completely agree, he thinks you hate him. I really hate that because my brother and I do not see eye to eye most of the time, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love him. I pray he and his new bride will have a wonderful marriage. This is his first wife but he has 3 kids. I know from 7 years experience it is no fun for the wife dealing with the “ex”. Let’s just say I fear she will have more trouble than I’ve had…….and I’ve had my share. Well, she just better be good to him or I’ll have to drive up there and hang her by her toes. He better be good to her too or there will be a spot reserved for him right next to her’s. :o)

Well, my 2 vacation days are done. The first one wasn’t so great but after that, my time away from work was very enjoyable. I got a good bit of stitching done, that Miss Rachel seems to think is for her. ROFL I cleaned up around the house, did laundry and those kind of things, but didn’t get the shed cleaned out. :o( That, therefore, is on the agenda for this weekend.
Saturday I didn’t do much of anything because my back was hurting so bad. Of course it had to be Saturday. I’ve been volunteering at a local food pantry/thrift store every other Saturday and wasn’t able to go for the first time since I started. I really enjoy my time there, I have met some of the most interesting people. One week I had a sweet older gentleman talk to me while his wife shopped, he preached to me a bit, then he sang me a song he had written for his first wife that passed away. He was such a doll. The reason I’m there is God. I had thought about volunteering but chickened out. I’ve never done anything like that before except with the youth group at my old church. I’m very intimidated by the unknown. Then God spoke to me through a sermon at church. On the way home I told Byron that I felt like God was telling me He wanted me to do this and he said he was thinking the same thing through the service. When I went to talk to them about volunteering she said she needed someone every other Saturday, which would be the Saturday’s that my hubby works. I was so excited, how perfect! The only reason I even mention that I’m doing this is that I hope it might encourage someone who maybe doesn’t want to step out of their comfort zone, to do so. If you feel God is leading you to do something, listen. Don’t let the fear of the unknown stand in your way. I know I’ve read people’s blogs and thought, “You know, I’ve thought about doing that.” Sometimes reading about other people doing something you’ve thought about doing is just the encouragement you need to do it yourself.
Heather made it through orientation. That night she was so pitiful, you would have thought she was being sent to the gallows. She really likes her trainer and seems to be doing well. I think she was just afraid of the unknown. Thursday was her first day shadowing which she will be doing through this week too. Next week she will be on her own so we are going to save our date for then. :o) One night she was clearing tables because they were so busy and the guy that was supposed to be doing it didn’t show up. The servers all put in and gave her some of their tips for helping out. She was so excited, especially since she hasn’t been getting any tips while shadowing (they are paying her minimum wage until she is on her own). So far it sounds like they are treating her well. I was kinda nervous about that, I had experience at a young age having my tips stolen. I hope she stands up for herself if they do.
Gotta go check on supper, right now I have Chili & Cheese Dog Bake in the oven. If you’re interested in the recipe, hop on over to Kayla’s recipe blog, she has lots of great recipes to share.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to have 2 whole days off!!!! Well, 4 if you count Friday and Saturday. :o) Hubby and I are going to organize and get rid of some junk tomorrow, main target is the shed. I also plan to get groceries tomorrow and work on the stitching project I have going right now. I also hope to get some baking done, make some Puppy Chow for People to send my uncle and mix up a batch of cookie dough for the freezer. Tomorrow for supper is Crock Pot Beef Stew, yummy & easy. Heather’s first day of work is tomorrow. She doesn’t know it yet, but she is going to have a photo session right before she leaves. *hee hee* I gotta have pictures of her in her cute little uniform as she goes off to her first day of work now don’t I? I’m sure they won’t be happy pictures, not because she isn’t happy to have a job, but because she will not want to have her picture taken. She’ll live. :o)
Well, gotta go wash my face and such to prepare for bed. *Goodnight*

This was my second try at making homemade noodles (or dumplings as they seem to be called here in the south.). The first try was quite a while ago, and they were awful! This round was about a week and a half ago. They were actually pretty good. I tried some with wheat flour and some with white. The wheat was tougher, but still ok. I got my broth a little too peppery, but other than that the family seemed to like them. :o) I found the recipe in one of my cookbooks Like Grandma Used to Make , it has a lot of scratch recipes made a little lower in fat & calories. Did I mention that I LOVE cookbooks? I tend to read them more than cook from them. I love, love, love to look through cookbooks. I find most of the recipes I actually use online. I’m trying to actually use my cookbooks more instead of just looking through them. My favorite is Dining During the Depression , it has such wonderful little memories with most of the recipes. My grandmother also gave me a cookbook that I love, it’s huge! Her twin sister gave it to her on her 19th (I believe) Birthday. It doesn’t even have a cover anymore. There are even directions in there that explain how to pluck a chicken. Not something I plan to do anytime soon, but ya never know when you’ll need it. :o) There are little notes that she has written that I are so sweet and special to me. I have started trying to write notes next to recipes I try, maybe someday they will be special to someone too.
Tonight I get a little “me” time to stitch and do some pilates while Heather is at orientation for her new job. I’m so excited to hear how it goes.

Another picture that Rachel took. :o)
Heather finally got her first job!!! She starts tomorrow as a waitress. I think her daddy and I are going to go on a date Thursday night to visit her if she works. She will not get her schedule until tomorrow. I’m so excited and nervous for her. Tonight she went shopping for her shirt, pants and shoes she needs. Man, even her getting a job is costing us money! That’s ok, this is going to be a great experience for her. I’m so proud! :o)
